I want to make one thing clear; This album, its title and the artwork shouldn’t be seen as a patriotic statement, neither as a provocation. Actually, I first wanted to turn the flag upside-down to avoid any kind of misinterpretation, though, that wouldn’t be the right message either since I believe in the “other America”, the multicultural, tolerant, fair, caring and independent. It might sound naive but I don’t want to give up this dream of a better world, where each individual and its individuality are appreciated as what they are, where social injustice doesn’t exist, where money can’t buy politics or justice, where the strong strengthen the weak, where intolerance has been revealed as the poison it is to any kind of community and/or society. Still, these are only my personal thoughts and I’m not here to blame anyone. My experiences in the United states, good and bad ones, inspired me to write these songs, most of them as I was on tour going from Coast to Coast. And now, in the year 2020, looking at all the protests and riots in the streets, they seem to make more sense than ever before. Wisdom begins with wonder and understanding with self-reflection. In history, Fear, greed and hate never led to anything else but agony. And yes, many more Tyrants will come and put human civility to an acid test, and we all will have to dig our heels in. Remember, we don’t serve the government, the government is supposed to serve us! We, the people, Have the power and every now and then in history, we have to remind the leaders, who calls the shots.
